FIFTEEN YEARS of Wine For Dudes was a milestone worthy of a massive celebration… so the dudes did what the dudes do best… we threw an EPIC PARTY!
Around 100 VIP guests came to celebrate Wine for Dudes 15th birthday, from the wineries and breweries who welcome our tour passengers everyday, accommodation providers who recommend us to their guests, our awesome friends, and Wine for Dudes biggest fans, Johnno’s very proud parents who flew all the way from NZ with his uncle and aunty for a night not to be missed!
Hosted by the absolute legends at The River Hotel, guests were treated to a selection of beautiful Margaret River wines, including Voyager Estate Chardonnay, Skigh Wine Fume Blanc, and Wine for Dudes very own ‘Chateaux Johnno’ – a wild ferment Wilyabrup Cabernet Sauvignon; all accompanied by delicious canapes of Oysters, Croquettes, Crepes and loads more!
Nick from Kachina DJ’s threw down some funky beats setting an atmosphere of lots of laughs and fun! A Blind Tasting Competition saw dudes friend Jako Kurn walk away with a case of wine (we were dubious of the win, but foul play couldn’t be proven by the Estonian!); and five other guests took home bottles of wine and dudes merchandise with door prize announcements!
Snippets of memories from the past fifteen years were laid out in a collection of photos from our archives, which was an awesome way to see some of the dramatic changes that the Margaret River wine region has undergone, and gave people a chance to reminisce over some old faces.
The night was put on as a way for dudes boss, John O’Connor, to say THANK YOU for all the incredible support Wine for Dudes have received from the local Margaret River community in making dudes what it is today! We couldn’t have done it without the help of these people, and we’re absolutely rapt to live and work in such an incredibly supportive and community-focused region… you’re all LEGENDS!
Special thanks has to go to The River Hotel who made planning an absolute breeze, and their legendary staff who made our guests feel so welcome! Mike Skivinis, General Manager of The Berry Farm who gave an impromptu speech congratulating Johnno and the team on achieving the milestone, and recognising the contribution Wine for Dudes has to local businesses and the community also; the Wine for Dudes crew who planned the event and looked after guests; and the legendary Tom Pearsall from Driftwood Photography for perfectly capturing it all so we can keep reliving what an epic night it was!
